- Lock your car from the outside – It is all too easy to lock your keys in your car if you lock it from the inside. That is why you should get into the habit of using your keys to lock your care from the outside! If you are using your keys to lock the door, they can’t be in the ignition or sitting on the seat!
- Get a spare – Make a copy of your car key and keep it in your wallet or purse at all times. Don’t attach your spare key to your car, even if you feel that it is well-hidden you are still at a much higher risk of getting your car stolen. Spare keys can be expensive, but they will save you a whole lot of frustration in the future.
- Attach your keys to your person – Put your keys on a retractable leash, a lanyard or a carabiner so that they are always attached to your person. You can’t lose your keys if they are attached to you!
